Born in the heart of Fuseta, Maresia is not just a restaurant – it is the reflection of a history
of family, resilience and love for the authentic flavours of the Algarve. Founded on 20 September
2019, Maresia was born unexpectedly, but deeply rooted in the
fishing tradition.
Its origins lie in a family of fishermen, used to living to the rhythm of the tides and the flavour of what the
sea offers. It was at a farewell dinner for the bride and groom when the idea of opening a restaurant
came to them through the voice of a cousin. All it took was one sentence and the right space at the right time. Shortly afterwards, Maresia came to life, with a view of the Ria Formosa and Algarvian soul in every dish.
But the beginning wasn’t easy. Three months after opening, the world came to a standstill with the arrival of the

pandemic. Instead of closing their doors, the Maresia team rolled up their sleeves and took the plunge into take-away, adapting with creativity and courage. That’s how a brand was bornbuilt in difficult times, but with a flavour of overcoming.
Today, Maresia is a recognised name, mentioned by media such as TSF or the Invasões project, and praised by visitors from all over the world. Our cuisine mirrors the founder’s path: dishes with deep roots, where tradition is respected but presented with freshness and elegance.
The house specialities include grilled octopus, carabineiro risotto, oysters fresh from the Ria Formosa, corvina pasta or lobster rice – each dish tells a story, each flavour transports us to the most genuine Algarve.
At Maresia, we serve more than food. We serve memories, experiences and the best of our coastline, overlooking the sea and with soul in every gesture.
